In my life,
I have experienced some good times and some bad times. Those bad times have
taught me a lot about life and how we need to get through them. The best piece
of advice I have ever gotten has to be to love yourself before you can love
others. My mother gave me this advice after a hard time in my life. I have
taken this advice more serious this past semester. All throughout my life I have
been a people pleaser. I like to make everyone around me happy before I make
myself happy. My mom has told me time and time again that I need to start
loving myself and making myself happy first before others. She has seen me in
ways that nobody else has. This semester I took this advice and started using
it. This advice has helped me through all the things that have been going on. I
can honestly say I love the person who I am becoming more and more every day. My
friends and family have also noticed a huge difference in me and how I act. They
see me smile and laugh more than I ever had before. They see the brighter side
of me because I have started seeing the brighter side in me as well. I wish I would
have taken this advice a lot earlier in life when my mom first told me because I
see how much it has affected me and others around me. I am so very blessed with
a mother that looks out for my happiness and who I am because without my mother’s
love and support I don’t think I would be the person I am today without her. The
saying that everyone knows “mom know best” is very true. Without this advice, I
feel like I would still be the person I was and not the person I am today.

Blog #9
In my opinion, I think the drinking
age should be 18 or 19 years of age. I say this because as we grow up we are
told that once we turn 18 we are adults. At 16 we can drive, at 18 we can vote,
move out of our parents’ house and make our own decisions so why should we not
be able to make the decision to drink? In Hanson’s article, he says that we
need to rethink our approach to alcohol education and public policy. No. We
need to stop talking and thinking about this because it will go nowhere. Adults
say that we are not mature enough to be able to drink and I agree with that but
only to a certain extent. If we are mature enough to go to college, get a job,
and live on our own, and take care of ourselves then I think it is our responsibility
to be able to drink safely. They also say that they raised the drinking age to
21 because it saved so many lives. In my opinion I don’t think the age matters
on drinking and driving. Pretty much people are saying it's okay for a 21-year-old
to drink and drive and get in a wreck but if it was an 18-year-old drinking and
driving it's all the sudden bad? Wrong it is all the same and it is all wrong. I
am not just saying this age because I am at this point in my life I am just
simply stating my opinion. I agree more with De Jong when it comes to the
drinking age law that we need to stop talking about it because what is done is
done. There is no looking back and changing the drinking age anymore.

Lady GaGa's Super Bowl Show
Lady Gaga is not afraid to speak her mind and everyone knows that. In the article it is mentioned that Lady Gaga is not shy at all about her political leanings. She campaigned for Hillary Clinton publicily and has repeatedly done that for the election. When people found out about Lady Gaga being the halftime performer at the Super Bowl people also wondered if her political side was going to come along with her while she is performing. Most if not all the fans just want to enjoy the Super Bowl and have fun.
At the beginning of her performance she started off at the top of the arena singing bits and pieces of “God Bless America” and “This Land Is Your Land”. At the end of singing this she did something crazy as usual and jumped off the top of the arena and into the inside of the area. Of course, she had props that helped her but still is crazy.
What I got out of reading this article is that I found out more things about Lady Gaga than I knew. Me personally I don’t pay attention to Lady Gaga that so I didn’t know about her political side and that she is not afraid for show it. Another thing I learned about Gaga is when she is giving a speech she is always very compassionate about what she says and makes sure what she says is heard.
