In my opinion, I think the drinking age should be 18 or 19 years of age. I say this because as we grow up we are told that once we turn 18 we are adults. At 16 we can drive, at 18 we can vote, move out of our parents’ house and make our own decisions so why should we not be able to make the decision to drink? In Hanson’s article, he says that we need to rethink our approach to alcohol education and public policy. No. We need to stop talking and thinking about this because it will go nowhere. Adults say that we are not mature enough to be able to drink and I agree with that but only to a certain extent. If we are mature enough to go to college, get a job, and live on our own, and take care of ourselves then I think it is our responsibility to be able to drink safely. They also say that they raised the drinking age to 21 because it saved so many lives. In my opinion I don’t think the age matters on drinking and driving. Pretty much people are saying it's okay for a 21-year-old to drink and drive and get in a wreck but if it was an 18-year-old drinking and driving it's all the sudden bad? Wrong it is all the same and it is all wrong. I am not just saying this age because I am at this point in my life I am just simply stating my opinion. I agree more with De Jong when it comes to the drinking age law that we need to stop talking about it because what is done is done. There is no looking back and changing the drinking age anymore.
